Age Discrimination Act 2006 is basically a realization in England of the EEOC act of 1967. Australia has a bill as well on age discrimination. The United States amends the age discrimination act yearly to keep current with the times and now it seems that other parts of the world are enacting laws to provide for discrimination, particularly age discrimination. As with any laws, loopholes are found that need corrected and also terminology must at times be changed. In the United States, they are not actually brand new acts but revisions to the original act. In other countries, the time has come to ensure that older workers are not discriminated against in the workplace. Discrimination laws go back to the early 1960's in the United States and most discrimination cases are overseen by the EEOC. There are a handful of laws that apply to many different types of discrimination, not the least of which is age discrimination. New amendments to the age discrimination act will probably become a reality in other parts of the world as well.
