Age Discrimination Suit

Despite the fact that the year is 2009, age discrimination suits are at an all time high. Age discrimination against workers aged 40-70 is illegal and it has been since 1967. If anyone feels they have been denied a job, or fired, denied a promotion or training, or even laid off because of their age, they should consider filing a lawsuit. Of course, try going to the Union/workplace managers first to see if the situation can be resolved. If it cannot be, you can choose to hire an attorney right away or file a suit with the EEOC first. Once you contact the EEOC, you must follow their procedure through to completion. Once the EEOC has determined (in their opinion) that you have or have not been discriminated against, the next step would be a lawsuit. Even if the EEOC determines you were discriminated against, it does not guarantee you will win the lawsuit. It is best to gather any evidence you have to prove that you were the victim of discrimination. Write down names, dates, conversations and everything you can think of. An age discrimination suit takes time but most cases do end up fairly.
