Eeoc Lawsuit

Seeing an EEOC lawsuit can often mean seeing some big name companies. One might think that only the smaller employers would be guilty of discrimination of any form but that is just not the case. It very often is the larger company that lands in a court of law over a discrimination EEOC lawsuit. Most recently, company names like the Waffle House, Home Depot and Nordstrom have not only found themselves inside a courtroom but they have been on the losing end of those battles. Surprisingly (or not) a growing number of discrimination EEOC lawsuits have been filed by pregnant workers. Firing someone or refusing to hire them because they are pregnant is sex discrimination according to the EEOC. In Fiscal Year 2008, EEOC and state/local agencies nationwide received a record high 6,285 pregnancy discrimination charge filings, up 12 percent from the prior year and 50 percent over the past decade. There is an overall rise in the number of lawsuits being pursued by the EEOC. Many, but not all of them have to do with sex discrimination and age discrimination. The number of EEOC lawsuits is expected to keep rising through 2009.
